Art'ist

*~• Sigh •~*

I am at a cross-roads of sorts at the moment. I am working on a Children's book, I have been doing some character Designs for Little Airplane Productions, all the while I of course have a huge influx of Bark Point Studio commissions. With the holidays coming everything seems magnified and I feel the stress of it falling over me like a blanket of snow. I have been trying really hard to sketch more, but the more I sketch the more I realize I don't know if I love the style of work I do on a regular basis. My drawings always have so much more life to them then my finished illustrations... I have had this problem my entire life. I suppose what I really want to do is have some time to work on my personal work and decide how to market that style instead of this cutex1000 stuff I do.... Hmm..

Sashi for Pre-Order

My first published book is now available for Pre-Order! I am so excited to see Sashi the Scared Little Sheltie in person and of course in print! A percentage of sales will benefit Sheltie Rescue. This project has truly been a labor of love, its a precious story and would make a great holiday gift for any kid or family with pets.

In recent news, I have completed my fourth book (second to be published)--- Wilson Tries New Foods! Below are a few sneak-peaks. This book was such a pleasure to create and I learned a lot too, so its a great book for parents with kids who are hesitant or refuse to eat the things they need to grow and succeed.

In even more recent news--- I've started my fifth book! Benjamin Birdie's First Flight, written by Michael Dostikas. I am so excited about this story, its characters, its charm, its writing--- everything about it is so fresh and of course adorable. Below is the first 2 pages.

Wilson Tries New Foods & BPRA

I started a WebComic in my free time. Its called Bark Point Rescue Alliance. Each week the 'mission' is to help a cat or dog that has been waiting for their home for far too long. I have asked Rescues and Shelters-- and friends of Rescue-- to nominate real pets to be spotlighted. I have done 3 so far, and 1 has been adopted since! I am hoping this webcomic will take off and that people will be lining up to adopt a BPRA pet! I can dream big, can't I?

I also started working on my next book, Wilson Tries New Foods. I am really liking working in a new style! I have finished 6 pages so far and its going to be a fun book. Its very educational and it rhymes, which I LOVE. All kids need to learn how to eat healthy in a fun way~!

Sashi Pages

I've skipped uploading a few spreads in Sashi so far. Since I know this one will be hitting shelves this December I don't want to give it all away! But here is the fourth spread. I am 1/4 done with the book and ironically enough Sashi is 1/4 to her goal on our Kickstarter--- please check it out and buy yourself a copy, you won't regret it. Sashi has an amazing story to tell.

Introducing Sashi the Scared Little Sheltie

This is the Cover for the next book I will be working on. Sashi is based on a real Sheltie who overcame a lot of neglect and became an amazing best friend.

Another Sketch_dailies and Hammer Cont'd

I have introduced a NEW style to my Bark Point Studio options. I am now taking commissions for Doggie Doodles-- they are $15.00 sketches like the image below. I did this because Bark Point Studio started at $20.00 per pet and $10.00 for every additional pet. It was exciting and the amount of work I got immediately, was shocking to me! However those prices were not sustainable.. For the amount of time and care I began putting into these commissions I had to raise my prices. For a "caricature", that I am now calling Illustrations, it is $49.00 per pet and it includes a Generic Background. (Clients can choose from 8 choices or pay an additional $15.00 to Personalize the Background with their own photos or ideas.) I wanted to be able to still appeal to an audience that doesn't want to spend more than $20.00 but can appreciate the look of a sketch. So I am loving the Doggie Doodles thus far!

I have now drawn my second @Sketch_Dailies ! The topic is #IronMan, so of course I drew Tony Bark, aka Jax dressed as Iron Man.

This below illustration has a PG-13/R reason behind its creation, but I actually think its my favorite thing I've done maybe ever. I feel like this little Corgi could be hanging out with Disney's Bolt. Its not an original style but I just love that I captured the disney look and had a blast doing it.

Hammer Spreads continued! Only 4 more spreads to go and I will have completed my first Children's Book.

Ray Pages 7-8

This book is beginning to come along. Who knows what will come of it. The author is going to self-publish it. I hope it takes off, but if it doesn't at least I am finally working on my Children's Book portfolio! This one is my favorite so far.

Catpunzel

I am doing a re-telling of the classic Brother Grimm's Story, Rapunzel. My version features a Cat and The Doggie Prince Weebleton who asks her, "Catpunzel, Catpunzel, let down your long tail!"

I am hoping that taking a classic story that everyone knows and giving it my own twist will help me strengthen my Children's Book Portfolio and help me stand out and hopefully break into the market.

S is for Sassy Shiba-Inu

R Is For Refined Raccoon!

So I have about two weeks left of my life here at Syracuse and its getting hard. I am spending half my time trying to finish all of my assignments and half my time making memories with my friends and crying about how its all coming to an end. I am very stressed out because I need to finish my work but I also feel as though I can't miss out on priceless times with my roommates anymore. I will finish the alphabet by Friday, but I still have so much more work... I hope I can get everything together in time.. I do not think I've ever had this much work before. Oy. (Wish me luck)
